Randy Hansen, Experimental Aircraft Association
An FAA order called the "Airport Compliance Manual" as proposed can do a lot of harm to sport aviation. Activities that would be limited or eliminated include bringing autofuel onto an airport, restricting access to people who trailer aircraft to the airport, and even maintaining your own aircraft on the airport. Randy Hansen give us the details about FAA Order 5190.6B and how you can comment on it (for only one more day). It is Docket No. FAA-2009-0924 Experimental Aircraft Association (3/30/10)

Jim Lawrence, Plane And Pilot Magazine
We visit with Jim Lawrence from Plane and Pilot Magazine. You may know him from there as well as a regular blogger on the byDanJohnson.com web site. His own blog is: Light Sport Hangar Flyin' (3/30/10)

Jim Sweeney, SweeneyCorp
Another regulation that changed recently was NTSB 830. There are new reportable incidents on the list and Jim Sweeney tells us about them and reviews the requirement for reporting accidents and incidents. SweeneyCorp (3/30/10)

Tim Kern, 121five.com
Tim Kern has a feature article coming out in Powered Sport Flying Magazine about the "Power of Sebring". We talk to him about the variety of powerplants he found in Florida during the Sport Aviation Expo. 121five.com (3/30/10)

Tom Peghiny, Flightstar Sportplanes
We talk electric aviation with Tom Peghiny. Tom is back from a trip to China where he visited the producers of the technology being used to make electric flight possible. Flightstar Sportplanes (3/30/10)

Earl Lawrence, Experimental Aircraft Association
While a lot of people refer to flying as a hobby or a sport, there is a lot more to being a pilot than either of those words imply. Earl Lawrence talks about the difference between the "hobby" of flying and almost any other recreational activity you might get involved in. Experimental Aircraft Association (3/23/10)

Jeff Goin, FootFlyer.com
In the United States, a couple of web sites are staples of the powered paragliding world. There is usppa.org and footflyer.com. Jeff Goin is involved with both and talks about the kind of content you can find on each one including some recent changes that are part of the USPPA web site. FootFlyer.com (3/23/10)

Jim Sweeney, SweeneyCorp
Spring is afoot and it's time to start reviewing the basics before you take to the sky. Jim Sweeney talks to us about VFR cruising altitudes. If you are planning to fly at any kind of altitude, it is important to know the flow of traffic so you can go with that flow. SweeneyCorp (3/23/10)

Robert Heimberger, St. Louis Rotocraft Club
Bob Heimberger has built a number of aircraft and is getting ready for his second gyro build project. One of the things he has incorporated into the avionics packages he installed in his first gyro and plans on installing in his new Magni is a transponder. He talks about why he flies with one and some things to consider before buying one. St. Louis Rotocraft Club (3/23/10)

Earl Lawrence, Experimental Aircraft Association
Last week Earl Lawrence participated in the EAA/FAA Winter Recreational Aviation Summit held at EAA Headquarters. Lots of ground was covered, addressing a variety of sport aviator concerns such as Amateur Built and LSA Safety and the need for us to redouble our focus and use of available safety programs such as the FAA FAAST, EAA Flight Advisor and Technical Councilor, and AOPA Air Safety on-line courses. A discussion of Sport Pilot instruction included having the instruction count toward higher certificates as well as clearing up conflicts in requirements for instruction by reference to instruments. AD's, Experimental exhibition aircraft operation limitations and even wood adhesives were discussed. We'll see how much we can cover in one segment. Experimental Aircraft Association (3/16/10)

Mathieu Heintz, Zenair Ltd.
Mathieu Heintz joins us to talk about the FAA's Zodiac 601/650 Aircraft Report and the proactive stance Zenith has taken in both while working with the FAA to learn what was going on with the fleet. We talk about both processes and fixes for these models. Zenair Ltd. (3/16/10)

Jim Sweeney, SweeneyCorp
We continue our discussion with Jim Sweeney about the big Sport Pilot Rule change. It takes effect on the 2nd of April and there are things you may need to know, especially if you are a student or instructor. SweeneyCorp (3/16/10)

Dan Johnson, ByDanJohnson.com
A big issue in the S-LSA world is what the consensus standards call "Continued Airworthiness Support". That is challenge enough for a manufacturer, but the standards also call for manufacturers to have some kind of plan in the event that the manufacturer goes out of business and can no longer provide that support. Dan Johnson joins us to talk about what manufacturers are doing to fulfill this requirement. ByDanJohnson.com (3/16/10)

Mike Engel, Wisconsin Powered Parachute Association
It is time again for the only statewide safety seminar for powered parachutes, the Wisconsin Powered Parachute Association's annual clinic. Mike Engel joins us to talk about the clinic, the speakers and the powered parachuting movement in Wisconsin. Wisconsin Powered Parachute Association (3/16/10)

Jim Sweeney, SweeneyCorp
We continue our discussion with Jim Sweeney about the big Sport Pilot Rule change. It takes effect on the 2nd of April and there are things you may need to know, especially if you are a student or instructor. SweeneyCorp (3/9/10)

Glen Moyer, Balloon Federation Of America
Glen Moyer joins us to talk about how a hot air balloon envelope is built and the materials in it. The envelopes are required to be airtight, light, and heat resistant where it's close to the burner. Balloon Federation Of America (3/9/10)

Paul Hamilton, BeASportPilot.com
Paul Hamilton introduces us to a beta online eLearning course for renters, students, pilots, owners and mechanics that he developed. This has been a request from FBO's, schools, instructors, and manufacturers to qualify for "basic" operating of ROTAX 912 engines. This is especially important for pilots and mechanics transitioning from classic aircraft engines (Continental/Lycoming) to the ROTAX 912. BeASportPilot.com (3/9/10)

Chris Dancy, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association
Aircraft security is something that is becoming more and more important, especially with recent events. However, AOPA has been working on airport security issues for years and their approach has been to train pilots and other airport regulars on how to spot suspicious behavior. We talk about AOPA initiatives with Chris Dancy. Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (3/9/10)

Jeff Goin, FootFlyer.com
Spring is coming and while powered paragliders don't officially need annual inspections, now is probably the time to do the equivalent of one for your equipment. Jeff Goin talks about the tasks you can and should do as well as the things that you probably want to refer to professionals. FootFlyer.com (3/9/10)

Earl Lawrence, Experimental Aircraft Association
Earl Lawrence was a featured speaker at the Illinois Ultralight and Light Plane Safety Seminar. There he visited with everyone from the head of the Division of Aeronautics for the State of Illinois to those just getting started flying. We talk about the diverse interests in aviation. Experimental Aircraft Association (3/2/10)

Scott Wick, Wicks Aircraft Supply
Over the past couple of years, Wicks Aircraft Supply has become Wicks Aircraft and Motorsports. Scott Wick joins us to talk about the similarities in materials used in aviation design and racing construction and how supplying to both interests has worked for them. Wicks Aircraft Supply (3/2/10)

Jim Sweeney, SweeneyCorp
Jim Sweeney has been studying presentations from different experts on the new Sport Pilot regulations update and has learned from all of the presenters. One thing he learned is that it is hard to cover such a complicated rule in one short period. We focus this week on how pilot training requirements have changed for 2010. SweeneyCorp (3/2/10)

Phil Lockwood, Lockwood Aviation Supply, Inc
Phil Lockwood presented a great program on Rotax engine maintenance and operations at the IUAC safety seminar. One of the most popular topics was the change in oils for both two-stroke and four-stroke engines. We go over those points for everyone here. Lockwood Aviation Supply, Inc (3/2/10)

Steve Krueger, Wisconsin Ultralight/Light Aviation Advisory Counsel
With the Illinois Ultralight and Light Plane Safety Seminar wrapped up it means that the Wisconsin event is right around the corner. Steve Krueger joins us to talk about this years program, location, and sponsors. Wisconsin Ultralight/Light Aviation Advisory Counsel (3/2/10)
